Pre-1956 Leavers’ Lunch

A reunion of happy memories

19 September 2016

A lunch was hosted by Aitchison College for Pre-1956 Leavers on the 19th of September at the Main Hall of the Old Building. It was a rare occasion to have so many of the College’s most senior alumni return to their alma mater for a nostalgic afternoon of renewed camaraderie.

Thirty-three old boys from the pre-1956 period returned to their College, including Sardar Balakh Sher Mazari, Syed Babar Ali, Syed Mohammad Mohsin, Mr. Shamim S. Khan, Syed Fakhar Imam and Mr. Kamil Khan Mumtaz. President ACOBA Mr. Shahjahan Ayub also attended the event.

The guests were greeted by the Headboy, Deputy Headboy and the College Prefects as they were welcomed to the beautiful sound of the Junior School Choir singing the School Song.

The event formally started with the address of College Principal, Mr. Michael Thomson who shared his vision for the College and his desire to reconnect the Old Boys with their alma mater. Mr. Majid Jehangir Khan, the Guest of Honour at the event, spoke about the need for revival of sports in the country, lamenting their decline. This was followed by Syed Fakhar Imam’s speech who spoke about national integration and the need for a strong national value system.

After the lunch, the Old Boys were shown a short video of a full campus tour which evoked pleasant memories of their time spent at Aitchison and immersed them into over 130 years of College history.

A few essays, poems and paintings from some very old editions of ‘The Aitchisonian’ were also reproduced at the event. The guests were delighted to see their work displayed, which they had produced as students at Aitchison College.
