The Passing of Sardar Jaffar Khan Leghari
It is with great sorrow and grief that we announce the passing away of Sardar Jaffar Khan Leghari, a veteran old Aitchisonian and a sitting member of the National Assembly. He passed away on Friday, 31st December, 2022 in the presence of his loved ones.
Sardar Jaffar Khan was born on the 23rd of June, 1942. He was a third generation Aitchisonian and studied at the College from 1950 and eventually passed out in 1957. Post Aitchison he did his diploma/undergraduate degree from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. He also started assisting his father in his political activities and ventured into politics in the 1970s in what was to end up as a prolific political career as District Chairman Rajanpur, Member Punjab Assembly (1985, 1988 and 1993) and later on Member National Assembly (1997, 2002, 2008, 2013 and 2018).
He was known to be a people's man, a gentleman of the old school and was known for his love of art and culture, and the restoration of heritage sites.
