Hali Challenge Cup for the Best Urdu Speaker of Aitchison College
The Hali Challenge Cup, with a history spanning over fifty years, is a prestigious event held in honour of Maulana Altaf Hussain Hali. He was one of the most renowned poets and intellectual leaders of the Muslim world in the Asian subcontinent. Altaf Hussain Hali, dubbed as one of the ‘anaasir-i-khamsa’ or ‘the Five Elements of Urdu Literature’ by Mehdi Ifadi (1870-1921), was among the five most significant authors who influenced Urdu literature in the latter half of the 19th century. His brief teaching stint at Aitchison is always remembered in good words.
This year, the First Round of the competition took place on Monday, January 20, 2025, with fifteen talented students participating. After a rigorous selection process, ten finalists advanced to the Final Round, which was held on January 23, 2025.
