Passing of Farooq Hamid
Aitchison College mourns the loss of a distinguished alumnus and former Pakistan Test cricketer, Farooq Hamid, who departed for his heavenly abode on Thursday, 3rd April, 2025, after a battle with cancer. Hamid graduated from Aitchison in 1962. He was the winner of the Aitchison Challenge Cup in 1961. A proud Kelly-ite, who held athletic colours in 1960. Known for his fast-medium bowling, he made a significant impact in domestic cricket, representing Pakistan International Airlines and Lahore. His international cricketing career was brief but notable. He played his sole Test match for Pakistan in December 1964 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, where he claimed the wicket of iconic Ian Chappell.
