A three-hour session on "Understanding 21st Century Skills"
The Teaching & Learning Centre (TLC) at Aitchison College organised a workshop on "Understanding 21st Century Skills" on Saturday, May 17, 2025 by Taimur Bandey at the AJ Innovation Centre. With 26 years of education experience in various capacities Bandey led the session for 27 junior school teachers. 5 teachers from the Campus Girls School were invited as well.
During the workshop, participants engaged with essential Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, focusing on social skills to develop positive interpersonal relationships and enhance social-emotional intelligence. The session also covered research skills aimed at improving information and media literacy, alongside the ethical use of resources. Communication skills were emphasised to enhance information exchange and ICT literacy, while self-management skills were addressed to foster better organisational abilities.
Moreover, the workshop highlighted effective Approaches to Teaching, emphasising inquiry-based learning and conceptual understanding. These approaches were developed to address both local and global contexts, promote effective teamwork and collaboration, and ensure differentiation to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the integration of teaching methods and the real-life relevance showcased throughout the session. This workshop fostered a collaborative environment for professional growth.
