Congratulations to Asif S. Cheema (Batch of 1989)

Aitchison College extends heartfelt congratulations to its distinguished alumnus, Asif S. Cheema (AC 1989). He has been appointed as the Country Director for the People’s Republic of China (PRC) at the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

After graduating from Aitchison, Mr Cheema pursued higher studies in the United States, earning his bachelor’s degree from the New York Institute of Technology and an MBA from Yale University. Over 25 years of experience in investment banking and development finance, he has made significant contributions to sustainable development, financial innovation, and institutional growth.

Since joining ADB in 2014, he has held several senior key leadership roles, spearheading initiatives in access to finance, capital markets, climate resilience, and digital finance across Asia. As he assumes this vital leadership position, we are confident that his expertise and vision will further strengthen ADB’s partnership with the PRC, with a focus on innovation, environmental sustainability, and shared development for the region.
