News Update Cricket Tour of England

Aitchison College opened its tour of England against St Edwards College, Oxford regarded as possibly the best cricket school in southern England. It was always going to be a tall order first-up. In a 50 overs match, St Edwards was restricted to 4 for 299 after an opening stand of 200! This is a school that regularly makes over 400 in these formats. It was a marvelous bowling feat by our boys that showed great maturity and poise. At 3 for 165 and on target, Aitchison lost 4 wickets in 3 overs to an inspired spell of quick bowling. Not to be denied, the boys showed grit in reaching 240 in 49 overs to fall short. Ibtesam-ul-Haq top scored with 66 and Zain was our best bowler. All in all a great learning curve.

Next day, we travelled to the Oratory School to play a South African cricket academy and Oratory in a triangular T 20 event. Aitchison chased 140 to win against South Africa and did it courtesy of a fine 66 from Ibtesam-ul-Haq and solid knock from Hasneet. It was an exciting match after our last over went for 28 runs and put us in a spot of bother! Next up, we played Oratory. Dar treated us to a maiden century on tour. Aitchison compiled a massive 196 runs. Then our bowlers cut through the top order to reduce the Oratory reply to just 101 runs. This was a stunning victory. The two schools enjoyed an Halal BBQ and get together.

Today, we travel to Marlborough College. Rest Day much needed. Boys in fine spirits. Photos to come.
