A Fusion of Cultures: Chinese New Year Celebrated at Prep School

The Chinese New Year Celebrations were held on 21st February 2026 at Aitchison College,
Prep School. The day was a vibrant blend of cultural learning, tradition, and student
engagement.

The evening began with the reception of the Chinese Consulate delegation at Maratab Ali Gate,
followed by a guided tour of the historic Old Building. Led by the Headmaster of Prep School
and the Head of Chinese Department, the delegation explored Aitchison College’s rich heritage,
architecture, and enduring traditions.

At Monnoo House, the distinguished guests had a delicious Iftari with the staff and students.
They later visited the Bahawalpur House, where they appreciated students’ artwork and
attended a brief historical talk about Mr. Langland, the late English Headmaster who dedicated
his entire life to the promotion of education in Pakistan and Aitchison. The delegation was also
briefed about the legacy of the Nawab of Bahawalpur, the true benefactor to Aitchison College
and to Pakistan in many ways.

The formal celebrations of the Chinese New Year commenced with an insightful presentation
by M. Ahmed Maher, a student who studies Chinese at Prep School. In his presentation, he
highlighted the traditions and cultural symbolism of the Chinese New Year. The Chinese
Consulate also gave an insightful talk about the shared cultural heritage of Pakistan and China.

The event concluded with a group photograph symbolising unity and friendship between
Pakistan and China, leaving our guests and students enriched by the shared experience of two
cultures.
