On 11 August 2026 at 6:08 PM, the Aitchison College Science Society (ACSS), under the guidance of Dr. Muhammad Kamran, successfully launched its student-developed rocket: BARQ.

BARQ reached an apogee of 3,740 metres and a peak velocity of Mach 0.86, marking the highest and fastest flight in the team’s history, as recorded by the sensors on its onboard flight computer.

At the heart of the flight was Silver Phantom, the science society's fully student-developed solid rocket motor. Its journey began on the test stand, where it produced approximately 72 kg of thrust during static firing. Designed and manufactured entirely at Aitchison, Silver Phantom ultimately powered BARQ to 3,740 metres.

From propulsion and avionics to structure design, flight systems and recovery, months of hard work and brilliant engineering converged in a single flight.

BARQ was more than a launch. It stands as a defining moment for Aitchison and a landmark for student rocketry in Pakistan. It stands as proof of what students can achieve when they are given the freedom to build, test, fail, improve and try again.
