Day 1 Recap: Staff Development Week 2026 Opened with Keynote on Evidence-Informed Practice
Aitchison College's Teaching & Learning Centre opened Staff Development Week 2026 on Monday, 24th August, with the General Staff Meeting held in Shamim Khan Hall for teachers from the Junior, Prep, and Senior Schools.
Following opening remarks from the Principal, Heads of School, and Director TLC, Dr Jessica Catherine Albrent, Assistant Professor at the Syed Ahsan Ali and Syed Maratib Ali School of Education, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), delivered the keynote address, “From Insight to Impact: Building an Evidence-Informed Learning Community.” The talk drew on Shane Safir and Jamila Dugan’s book, Street Data: A Next-Generation Model for Equity, Pedagogy, and School Transformation, which distinguishes between satellite data (broad, high-level metrics), map data (mid-level, more localised measures), and street data-the ground-level, qualitative evidence found in classrooms and student work. The address made the case for building school practice around this closer, more human layer of evidence.
The day continued with ten breakout sessions covering classroom management, assessment for learning, differentiated instruction, questioning techniques, and more. Each session was grounded in a named research base and was open to teachers from all three schools.
