Heritage Reunited: 140 Years of Aitchison College

On 3rd November 2026, Aitchison College commemorated 140 years of its distinguished legacy with a special Founders’ Celebration Assembly held against the historic backdrop of the Old Building. The occasion marked the anniversary of the laying of the College’s foundation stone in 1886, celebrating an enduring tradition of excellence, service and shared heritage.

A particularly meaningful highlight was the presence of a fourteen-member delegation from India, comprising descendants of prominent Sikh families whose ancestors were among Aitchison’s earliest students. Their return to the College symbolised the lasting bonds of friendship, history and belonging that transcend generations and borders.

Following the recitation from the Holy Quran, Principal Dr. S. M. Turab Hussain welcomed the distinguished guests and reflected on the College’s remarkable journey. Mr. Amarjeet Singh Bedi, representing the Indian delegation, and Mr. Usman Haq, President of the Aitchison College Old Boys’ Association (ACOBA), also addressed the gathering, paying tribute to the institution’s rich heritage.

The celebration included the presentation of commemorative souvenirs and the introduction of three Best Teacher Trophies, generously donated by the visiting delegation and Patiala families for the Junior, Prep and Senior Schools. In a heartfelt tribute, fifteen faculty and staff members were also honoured for more than 35 years of dedicated service to the College.

The Junior School Choir brought the assembly together through a stirring rendition of the College Song, followed by the National Anthem, before the proceedings concluded with a prayer.

More than a commemoration of 140 years, the celebration was a tribute to the people, traditions and enduring connections that continue to define the spirit of Aitchison College, honouring its remarkable past while inspiring generations yet to come.
