Aitchison Ist XI and U 16 Cricket teams play Pakistan Women's XI on MCG
Aitchison College hosted the Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team on Wednesday 26th September, 2018 for their matches against the Aitchison College 1st XI and Under-16 teams. Aitchison boys won both the matches.
Mr. Michael Thomson warmly welcomed the Pakistan Women’s Team to Aitchison. Mr. Mueen Afzal graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The governing body of ACOBA was also present on the occasion.
Our 1st XI won the match by 34 runs. Naail Arif Dar was particularly impressive, having scored 23 runs and picking up 3 wickets. The Ist XI dedicated its match and win to Old Boy Ahmed Shujaan who passed away on Tuesday 25th September, 2018. Ahmed had remained Head Boy (2013) and Captain of Cricket while at Aitchison. All boys stood beneath his name on the honour board before the match to hear of his achievements.
The Under-16 team also performed extremely well, winning their match against the Pakistan Women’s Team by 22 runs. M. Hasnaat Abbas was excellent, having scored 62 runs (not out) and claiming 2 wickets.
1500 hundred boys watched the Ist XI match. The Pakistan Women's team also met our Campus girls and through this Kinnaird College has offered to coach them in cricket at Kinnaird.
Playing against the Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team was yet another valuable learning opportunity for our boys who recently had a remarkable Cricket Tour of England.
