AITCHISON TO UPGRADE FIELDS, COURTS & shooting range

Aitchison Synthetic Jafar Field is Underway

The new synthetic hockey field of sand-dressed synthetic grass is now underway. The Jafar has been cleared and readied for leveling. The new pitch will be green with white markings. A three metre-wide ribbon will skirt the field. Coaching boxes will be placed on the roadside of the pitch and a new scoreboard added.

The Jafar Pavilion is also going through a refurbishment with the central room featuring a history of hockey at Aitchison.

Aitchison to Re-Open the Firing Range

Once celebrated as a key sport and skill, rifle shooting has fallen away since the mid-nineties. Now with the aid of ACOBA, we are rebuilding the range with top security and shooting bays. Boys will commence with air rifles and pistols progressing to .22 rifles in competition. The range will be extremely well managed by professionals. Skeet shooting is also making its debut next year.

Aitchison to Upgrade all Three Basketball Courts

Basketball is set to benefit from the sports master plan with a new show court of International standard being donated by the Dawood Family. The court will be ready by July. The remaining two courts near the Jafar Pavilion will also be upgraded over the extended holiday period. This work is long overdue.

With a new hockey field and basketball courts in close proximity, Aitchisonians will be able to enjoy the types of facilities experienced in very few schools.
