Update on Cambridge Examinations - Tuesday March 24

Dear Parents and Students,

We have now received confirmation that Cambridge May/June 2020 series examinations (IGCSE/O Levels & Cambridge AS/A Levels)  have been cancelled. This applies to all countries.

Cambridge has advised: "Students will receive a grade and a certificate from Cambridge International, given the knowledge and skills they have acquired in their programme of study. This will ensure that students do not face disadvantage as a result of these extraordinary circumstances. We will provide guidance to schools on how students will receive those grades. We are talking with universities worldwide, and they are factoring these unprecedented circumstances into admissions decisions, so students can continue with their educational journey as soon as possible."

Please note: Cambridge will be working with schools to assess students' achievements using the best available evidence.

Further updates from Cambridge are expected on Thursday March 26. As I have indicated before, we must stay patient and calm and allow the decision-making process to take its course. These are very challenging days, but everyone is doing their best to ensure that our boys are helped as much as possible. This is a very specialised problem now involving universities and curriculum authorities. While Aitchison is placing its suggestions on the table, we are in the position of every other school in the world: waiting on the next update.
