Staging History: The Tale of Tipu Sultan
Aitchison College, Senior School Dramatic Society, “Bazm-e-Tamseel,” staged its annual Urdu play, showcasing immense artistic dedication and powerful storytelling. After nearly three months of tireless after-school rehearsals, the talented cast brought the stage to life with remarkable passion and skill. The Principal, Dr. S.M. Turab Hussain, along with the administration and students, praised the cast for their powerful performance that was both meaningful and humorous.
The play revolves around the story of the great Indian ruler Tipu Sultan, known as the “Tiger of Mysore”. This undefeated ruler defied threats from both the Maratha Confederacy and the British East India Company but was ultimately betrayed by his trusted aide, Mir Sadiq. In a fierce final battle, Tipu sacrificed his precious life, refusing to bow to the British or surrender.
Through this powerful story, the play highlighted timeless themes of bravery, loyalty, honour, and betrayal. The play earned profound admiration from the audience, endorsing the stunning performance of our students and staff.
