1st Aitchison International Inter School Cricket Tournament-2026

As part of the prestigious 140 Years Sports Celebrations, the 1st Aitchison International Inter-School Cricket Tournament 2026 commenced with great verve, zeal, and enthusiasm amidst an atmosphere of sporting excellence. The grand opening ceremony reflected the College's enduring commitment to nurturing young talent and promoting the spirit of fair play. The occasion was graced by the Chief Guest, Mr. Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera, an Old Aitchisonian, distinguished former bureaucrat, and Captain of the Aitchison College Cricket Team in 1979.

The 1st Aitchison International Inter-School Cricket Tournament 2026 brought together eight outstanding teams, including two distinguished international sides and six from Pakistan's finest sporting institutions. Below are the teams divided into two groups.

The tournament concluded on a memorable and celebratory note, with Bangladesh emerging as worthy champions and Aitchison College securing the runners-up position after defending a modest total. Batting first Aitchison made 129 runs all out (Usman Khan 77). The target was chased easily by Combined Bangladesh with 5 wickets to spare. Having progressed from the same group, both finalists displayed exceptional consistency, resilience, and determination, overcoming highly competitive opponents to earn their places in the grand finale. Their remarkable performances reflected the highest standards of skill, discipline, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Equal appreciation is extended to the remaining six teams, whose spirited performances, unwavering commitment, and competitive excellence greatly enriched the quality and prestige of the championship.

The Prize Distribution Ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, Majid Jahangir Khan (Former Pakistan Test Cricketer, Former CEO Pakistan Cricket Board & Old Aitchisonian), who presented the championship trophy, runners-up trophy, and individual awards to the winning teams and outstanding performers in recognition of their exceptional achievements. The ceremony was attended by the Principal, Dr. S. M. Turab Hussain, along with the Bursar, the Tournament Director, esteemed members of the Aitchison College Old Boys' Association (ACOBA), distinguished guests, players, coaches, match officials, and members of the College community.

The tournament was proudly supported by its esteemed sponsors Allied Bank Limited, Pepsi Cola International, Silver Star Group, and United Insurance Group (UIG) whose generous partnership and unwavering commitment played a pivotal role in the successful staging of this prestigious event. Their invaluable support significantly enhanced the quality and stature of the championship.

Formal Dinner of 1st Aitchison International Inter School Cricket Tournament

A formal dinner was hosted in honour of overseas Cricket teams comprising Combined Schools Bangladesh, Combined Schools UAE, and Habib Public School on 23rd June, 2026. The superlative teams were given a warm Aitchisonian welcome.

The evening was graced by the Guest of Honour, Mr. Ramiz Hasan Raja former Pakistan Test cricketer, renowned commentator, former Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and a proud Old Aitchisonian. His inspiring presence and interaction with the young cricketers added immense prestige and significance to the occasion. Dr. S. M. Turab Hussain, Principal of Aitchison College, and Mr. Umer Zaman Khan, Tournament Director, welcomed the distinguished guests and addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of international sporting exchanges and character-building through cricket.

As a token of appreciation and goodwill, commemorative souvenirs were presented to the visiting overseas teams by the Principal and the Guest of Honour, symbolising the enduring bonds forged through sport. The dinner was also attended by the College Bursar, Mr. Junaid Zia (Pakistan Cricket Board Representative), officials, coaches, and players from all participating institutions.

The occasion provided a valuable platform for players and officials to interact beyond the boundary, exchange experiences, and foster lasting friendships across cultures. Conversations throughout the evening reflected the shared passion for cricket and the spirit of mutual respect that defines the tournament. The event beautifully embodied Aitchison College's commitment to excellence, hospitality, and international engagement through sport. 
 

Final Day of the Summer School by TLC

The final day of the summer school was a powerful celebration of growth, reflection, and future-forward planning. The morning began with a scenic Campus Tour , followed by a final installment of the Teacher to Teacher Talk Series. Yaseer Hashmi delivered a masterful session on "What we learn from student mistakes," transforming errors into valuable pedagogical opportunities.

The final block of targeted workshops successfully synthesized everything learned over the week:

  • Setting the Foundation for Future Learning: Noor-ul-Ain mapped out critical pathways to future-proof students for higher-order academic challenges.
  • Putting It All Together: Sahar Saleemi delivered a comprehensive blueprint integrating behavior, classroom management, and creating an ideal working atmosphere.

Adding a magnificent touch of culture and artistic brilliance to the day, the audience was treated to a spectacular, special tabla performance by young tabla artists Riyan & Isaac. Their extraordinary rhythm and energy brought a grand, vibrant atmosphere to the venue, leaving the crowd absolutely spellbound.

The conference reached its magnificent conclusion at the Senior School Auditorium with "Takeaways and Commitments," led by Muhammad Musa Ali Bokhari (CEO PECTAA) , where educators proudly laid out their actionable visions for their classrooms. The event concluded with a formal Closing Ceremony, wrap-up, and evaluations. This marked the successful completion of 20 cumulative hours of professional development designed by the Teaching & Learning Centre, focusing on managing high-performance teaching strategies. 

TLC's Second Summer School: Nuts & Bolts - Day 3

Day 3 of the Nuts & Bolts Summer School started with Dr. Huma Izhar's Teacher to Teacher Talk Series delivering an illuminating presentation titled "Student Engagement Beyond Fun," shifting the focus toward deep, authentic cognitive investment. The specialized parallel workshops further expanded on these themes:

  • The Strategies of High Performance Teaching in a Nutshell: Omer Mubbasher crystallized complex frameworks into sharp, actionable techniques for teacher execution.
  • Curing the Troubled Classroom (What Learning Science Tells Us): Samara Salahuddin bridged theory and action by showcasing what the cutting edge of learning science reveals about diagnosing and revitalizing difficult classroom dynamics.

The day concluded  with an intellectually vibrant Panel Discussion moderated by Zain Khan. Panelists Iram Qazi, Amina Kamran, Dr. Tarunjit Butalia, and Faiza Shahzad engaged in a dynamic exchange, painting a vivid picture of what world-class, high-performance teaching truly looks like in practice.

TLC's Second Summer School: Nuts & Bolts - Day 2

Day 2 of Nuts & Bolts opened with the prestigious Teacher to Teacher Talk Series featuring Dr. S. M. Turab Hussain, who delivered a moving discourse on how "Great Teachers create a lasting impact". The momentum carried over into deep-dive workshops:

  • Creating the High Performance Classroom: Tina Hameed returned to guide participants through designing physical and cultural spaces optimized for rigorous academic achievement.
  • Classroom Mechanics (Creativity, General Principles of Good Practice): Aqdas Aslam energized educators with fresh, innovative principles to cultivate creative problem-solving.

To close out a phenomenal second day, Taimur Bandey took the stage  for a seminar on "Making Teaching Durable," equipping teachers with long-term pedagogical strategies to ensure knowledge retention persists well beyond the final exam.

TLC's Second Summer School: Nuts & Bolts - Day 1

Nuts and Bolts: The Science of High Performance Teaching Summer School officially commenced, running from June 15 to June 18, 2026. Organized by the Teaching & Learning Centre, this premier professional development initiative launched with a spectacular Opening Ceremony at the historic Old Building Hall. The event was formally set in motion by an inspiring and thought-provoking Keynote Address delivered by Dr. Sabieh Anwar, setting an ambitious tone for the days ahead.

The day proceeded with high-energy, parallel interactive workshops designed to dissect the core mechanics of effective educators:

  • What is the Science of High Performance Teaching: Led by Tina Hameed, this session challenged educators to evaluate the empirical evidence behind transformative teaching practices.
  • Classroom Mechanics (Coherence, Routines & Transitions): Dr. Shazia Humayun provided invaluable tactical strategies to build seamless, highly functional classroom environments.

The afternoon culminated in the Senior School Auditorium with an extraordinary seminar on the "Psychobiology of Learners" by Dr. Muhammad Mustafa, offering teachers critical insights into the biological and psychological factors driving student focus and engagement.

Sport, Culture and Camaraderie: Aitchisonians Shine in Sri Lanka

Aitchison College continued its rich tradition of international sporting engagement with a successful tour to Sri Lanka in June 2026. Our students proudly represented the College in cricket and athletics and brought home numerous accolades. The tour brought together young athletes from Pakistan and Sri Lanka, promoting excellence, sportsmanship and cultural exchange while providing opportunities to compete, experience new sporting environments and build lasting friendships.

Cricket Amid the Monsoon:

The cricket tournament featured Aitchison College, Lyceum International School (Gampaha), Colombo International School and the Shehan Samarathunga Cricket Academy.

Aitchison began with a commanding victory over Lyceum International School. Captain Muhammad Ayaan starred with 92 runs from 59 balls and two wickets, earning Player of the Match honours. He was well supported by Muhammad Bin Ameer, who scored explosive 41 runs from 19 deliveries.

Persistent monsoon rains disrupted the remainder of the tournament, forcing the abandonment of matches against Shehan Samarathunga Cricket Academy and Colombo International School, as well as the fixture between Lyceum International School and Colombo International School.

Despite limited opportunities, Aitchison players continued to impress. Mustafa Salman scored 29 runs from 20 balls against Shehan Samarathunga Cricket Academy, while Muhammad Bin Ameer claimed three wickets against Colombo International School. Ameer Hamza and Shahnawaz added one wicket each.

Although the weather prevented the tournament's completion, Aitchison remained unbeaten in completed matches and demonstrated talent, adaptability and competitive spirit throughout.

Athletics Takes Centre Stage:

The athletics competition was held at Arena Perseus Grounds, Weeragula, and featured Lyceum International School (Gampaha), Bandaranayake College (Gampaha), Anura Central College (Yakkala), Maddumabandara Maha Vidyalaya and Aitchison College.

Across two days of competition, Aitchison athletes produced outstanding performances, winning six gold, five silver and two bronze medals.

Aayan Mahmood (U-15) secured two gold medals in Discus Throw and Shot Put. In the Under-14 category, Ali Naveed won two golds and one silver, while Mustafa Shuja matched the achievement with two golds and one silver through field events and the relay team.

Maher Nafees Ahmad Lak earned one silver and two bronze medals, while Mohammad Darim Mehr Ali added one silver and one bronze medal.

Competing against some of Sri Lanka's leading school athletes, the Aitchison contingent displayed resilience, sportsmanship and determination. Beyond the medals, the tour's greatest success lay in the experiences gained through competition, learning and cultural exchange. The boys developed international friendships, gained new perspectives and represented Aitchison College with distinction and honour.

World Book and Copyright Day 2026 Celebrations at the Syed Babar Ali Library

As part of World Book and Copyright Day 2026 celebrations, Aitchison College Junior School boys (Lower and Upper Primary) visited the Syed Babar Ali Library on 29 and 30 April 2026 and 12 May 2026, in three separate groups. Approximately 150 students participated in these visits, organised under the Star Readers Programme as part of the Reading Incentive Programme.

The purpose of these visits was to recognise and celebrate the reading progress of young learners while encouraging them to continue developing strong reading habits. During the visits, our students enthusiastically explored the reading spaces and learned about the importance of libraries in promoting knowledge, creativity, and lifelong learning. Many boys expressed excitement about becoming library members so they could independently borrow and enjoy books.

As part of the interactive sessions, students completed activity sheets prepared by the JS team, reflecting on their library experience and sharing their thoughts about reading. The library staff also engaged the students in creative learning activities, including colouring sheets and prompt-writing exercises connected to the animated film The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore.

Following the screening, the students participated in lively discussions, sharing their observations, ideas, and reflections on the film’s inspiring message about books, imagination, and storytelling. These activities encouraged creativity, observation, and thoughtful expression among the learners.

Overall, the visits were both educational and enjoyable, fostering curiosity, creativity, and a deeper appreciation for books, storytelling, and library learning among the students.

The success of these visits was made possible by the dedicated support and cooperation of all SBA Library staff, with the valuable coordination and collaboration of Aitchison College, Junior School. 

Residential Life Committee Field Visit to Cadet College Hasan Abdal

The Residential Life Committee (RLC) at Aitchison College recently visited Cadet College Hasan Abdal for a professional exchange focused on residential education and pastoral care.

The visit provided an opportunity to engage with boarding school leaders, staff, and students while exploring best practices in student well-being, residential culture, discipline systems, and leadership development within boarding communities.

The establishment of the Residential Life Committee marks an important step in strengthening boarding life at Aitchison College. Through greater collaboration, reflection, and innovation, the College continues to enhance the residential experience, ensuring that every boarder is supported within a caring, structured, and enriching environment

Bowling, Boundaries, and Brotherhood: A Cricketing Spectacle at Aitchison

The Inter-House Cricket Competition (Pre-C1) was held with full zest and energy. All Houses of Senior School participated actively, displaying remarkable talent, discipline, and teamwork throughout the competition. These matches were played in a highly spirited atmosphere, keeping spectators and players engaged and excited. Young cricketers showcased excellent batting, bowling, and fielding skills. Several closely contested matches reflected the players’ determination and passion. The tournament provided students with an excellent opportunity to develop confidence and sportsmanship.

Team coordination and a positive attitude were evident in every match on the field. The event also encouraged healthy competition and strengthened House unity among the boys. The overall standard of cricket was highly impressive. It was appreciated by staff, spectators, and students alike.

The competition successfully concluded, leaving memorable moments for all participants and enthusiasts. In the end, Mr. Umer Zaman Khan (Head of Sports), Ms. Amina Kamran (HMSS), and our worthy Principal, Dr. S.M. Turab Hussain, distributed trophies among the players for their outstanding performances.

Aitchison College Clinches Gold at U-15 Inter-School Athletics Championship

The Aitchison College Inter-School Under-15 Athletics Championship was successfully held on 9th May 2026 at Aitchison College. The event brought together talented young athletes from The Orial International School and Child Protection Bureau alongside our athletes. The championship featured a variety of track-and-field events, including the 100m Race, 200m Race, 100m Relay, Long Jump, Discus Throw, and Shot Put.

The competition was conducted in a highly disciplined and energetic atmosphere, with participants demonstrating remarkable determination, athletic ability, and exemplary sportsmanship throughout the event.

Aitchison College emerged as the overall champion, securing six gold medals. The Orial International School finished second, and the Child Protection Bureau remained third.

The championship aims to spark athletic interest among Under-15 students early on, helping them become confident, competitive athletes by the time they reach H1 and H2. Overall, the event proved to be an inspiring and rewarding experience.

In the end, medals were distributed by the Games Master, Mr. Umer Zaman Khan, and Mr. Shahid Mehmood Aslam, who appreciated the outstanding performances of the young athletes.

Squash Stars in the Making: Aitchisonians Shine on the National Stage

Our talented young squash players proudly represented Aitchison College, Prep School, at the National Junior & PSA Satellite Men’s Squash Championship, held from 1st to 5th May 2026, in Hyderabad, Sindh. The event provided a competitive platform for our emerging players to showcase their skills and determination. Our students displayed remarkable passion and commitment on the court.

Atif Ali Naz (E-2, Ranked 3rd) competed in the U-11 category and delivered a strong performance despite facing a tough opponent. He eventually bowed out after a 3–1 defeat in the quarterfinals.

Similarly, Abdul Rehman Shraim (M-1, Ranked 7th) played exceptionally well in the U-15 category, demonstrating great resilience. He fought hard but was narrowly defeated 3–1 in the quarterfinals. The efforts of both players reflected true sportsmanship and dedication throughout the tournament.

Another standout performer, Syed Muhammad Hussain (Pre C-1, Ranked 17th), advanced impressively to the semifinals in the U-15 category. He competed with confidence and skill before eventually losing to Faizan Ali Khan by 3–1.

Overall, the performance of our students was commendable, and it brought pride to Aitchison. Our boys also improved their national rankings.
