15th ACMUN Conference Concluded on a High Note
The Aitchison College Model United Nations Society is among the oldest and most prestigious societies. The 15th ACMUN Conference marked one of its most successful editions, hosting over eight hundred delegates across ten committees, making it one of Pakistan’s largest and most successful conferences. ACMUN XV welcomed delegates from every province and twelve outstation cities, ranging from Pakpattan to Hyderabad. It was recognised as the most well-structured conference in the nation, with judging based on the ACMUN Protocol—a unique and stringent framework outlining the goals and standards for diplomatic delegates. For the first time in Pakistan, innovative crisis committees such as a USA Crisis were introduced. Additionally, the event featured premium stalls and restaurants for delegates, including Bamboo Union and Smash. One of the many successes of the event was the introduction of full-sized committee flags. The Apollo XV, ACMUN’s Best Delegate Crisis Cell, was also held, marking the most competitive edition in the Society’s history, with all major schools competing with their best.

Teacher Recruitment Drive
For the first time in its history, Aitchison College made a bold statement at the recent Careers and Job Fairs at LUMS, LSE, and GCU by setting up dedicated booths. The pioneering move aimed to revolutionise the way recruiters perceive teachers and teaching, positioning it as a rewarding and respected profession worthy of consideration as a viable career choice.
At Aitchison, we believe there cannot be learning students unless there are learning teachers. Thus, we are evolving into a professional learning community. The Teaching and Learning Centre at Aitchison College is currently exploring strategic partnerships with renowned institutions to elevate its professional development offerings.
Laying the Foundation, Understanding Teaching: Training Workshop at Campus Girls School
Twenty-five teachers and the Headmistress of Campus Girls High School, Aitchison College, attended a four-hour training session on the 19th and 20th of March 2025. The teachers examined myths about teaching and learning in groups. They explored disastrous lessons and how to avoid them. The workshop included a presentation on the shape of the effective teacher and the Iceberg Theory. The takeaway task was an exercise to improve the teacher's speaking voice. The teachers were encouraged to practise this several times a month to improve their voice and clarity of speech.
Professional Reading Circle at the Teaching and Learning Centre
The Teaching and Learning Centre at Aitchison College successfully conducted a pilot for the Professional Reading Circles (PRC). This involved sixteen teachers across the three schools – the Junior, the Prep and the Senior, divided into four circles. During the four-week pilot, teachers worked as circle leaders, reading, reflecting and managing the logistics of their respective circles. They read four pre-selected articles and then had comprehensive sixty minute discussions on issues raised in the material.
At the end of the PRC there was a focus group discussion where teachers spoke about how they were able to link literature to their practice, the opportunity of peer-to-peer learning and the chance to use their voice and try out ideas firsthand. After the success of the pilot, the Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC) has planned regular PRCs throughout the academic year. Sixty-four teachers from across the three schools will be divided into sixteen circles to use this effective form of professional development, which is going to be an essential part of TLC’s teacher training programs.
There was a two-hour workshop conducted at Junior School to prepare the teachers for this experience.
O2G: Observe to Grow
At the Teaching and Learning Centre, we firmly believe that the development of teachers and leaders must be an essential part of school life at Aitchison. To improve teaching quality and effectiveness, teachers must observe their peers. O2G is a voluntary system of professional support that helps teachers at any stage in their career gain valuable insights about their teaching performance in a confidential, trusting and formative climate. It simply involves inviting a colleague into one’s classroom and asking him/her to give his/her insights about the delivery of material, student experience and other important teaching-related factors. For the O2G pilot, eighteen teachers were selected from the three schools, the Junior, the Prep and the Senior, and they attended a two-hour workshop at the Prep School library to fully understand the O2G concept. Their task was simple: they were to observe two teachers within the group (any grade/subject) using a simple form. They were also required to share two positive aspects that went well in the lesson they observed. This procedure was very closely monitored by TLC through status reports, while the Heads of Schools, HOD’s and Coordinators ensured that teachers were fully facilitated during the observations.
