Turning Pages, Building Futures: Book Fair at Prep School

Aitchison College, Prep School, hosted a lively Book Fair on October 28th and 29th, 2025. The fair showcased a wide variety of books that captivated both students and teachers. The event buzzed with energy as the visitors eagerly explored the booths, discovering new titles and genres. Teachers participated actively, encouraging young readers to develop a lifelong love for books. The fair effectively created an engaging environment of curiosity, learning, and literary enjoyment throughout the school.

A Verdict Against the Heart: Prep School Urdu Play

On 31st  October 2025, the Urdu Dramatic Society of Aitchison College, Prep School, staged its Annual Urdu play, “Qurtaba ka Qazi”.  The play captivated the audience with its powerful portrayal of true justice and moral courage. The production depicted a Judge or “Qazi” whose unflinching decision to uphold the law, even when it meant sentencing his own son to execution, was a moment that symbolised the supremacy of justice over kinship and emotions. The gripping performances, heartfelt dialogues, seamless direction, costumes, and background stage kept the audience spellbound. Every scene reflected months of dedication, teamwork, and artistic brilliance.

As the curtain fell, the hall resonated with thunderous applause and a standing ovation led by the esteemed Principal,  marking the play as one of the most memorable performances. More than a theatrical success, “Qurtaba ka Qazi” stood as a timeless reminder that true justice, however painful, remains the foundation of an honourable society. Kudos to the teachers and students who worked tirelessly to make the production such a success.

Aitchisonians Shine at Lahore Science Mela with Innovative Projects

Aitchison College Prep School students proudly participated in the Lahore Science Mela, organised by the Al-Khwarizmi Science Society. The event served as a dynamic platform for young learners to explore, innovate, and present their scientific ideas to a wider audience.

Our students worked in the school’s science laboratories under the able supervision of their teachers, designing and developing innovative science projects based on the concepts taught in their textbooks. Through this practical process, they engaged in hands-on activities, experimenting, testing, and refining their models to demonstrate scientific principles in both practical and imaginative ways.

At the Mela, the students confidently showcased their projects, displaying innovation, teamwork, and scientific curiosity. Their models reflected real-world applications of classroom learning, with projects ranging from environmental awareness and renewable energy to simple machines and modern technology.

The event also provided an enriching opportunity for them to interact with other young scientists, educators, and visitors, further inspiring them to pursue science with creativity and confidence.

Constitution, Citizenship, and Ethics: An Insightful Talk

On October 31, 2025, Aitchison College Prep School had the honour of hosting Barrister Ahmad Pansota, a distinguished Pakistani lawyer and proud Aitchison alumnus. Barrister Pansota, celebrated for his expertise in constitutional, public interest, and civil litigation, engaged students and teachers in an insightful session on the constitution, citizenship, and ethics. He shared valuable perspectives on justice, citizenship, and moral responsibility.

The interactive discussion saw enthusiastic participation from students, who posed thoughtful questions and gained a deeper understanding of their rights and duties as responsible citizens of Pakistan. The session proved both enlightening and inspiring, encouraging young Aitchisonians to think critically about law and civic values.

 

Aitchison Prep School Excels in National and International Arenas

Aitchison College, Prep School, celebrated a year of outstanding accomplishments on October 20, 2025, in Shamim Khan Hall. Our students excel in prestigious academic and co-curricular competitions at both national and international levels. During the school assembly, students were recognised in the presence of the esteemed Principal, respected Headmaster, and Deputy Headmaster for their commendable achievements in the following categories:

  1. Our young gentlemen made an impressive debut at the World Scholar’s Cup Regional Round. The 84-member delegation secured 55 gold and 44 silver medals, earning qualification for the Global Round in Doha.
  2. The Model United Nations Society proudly represented Aitchison at BDR MUN 2025 and won various prizes.
  3. Our students delivered strong performances at the 3rd Shayyan Khalid Memorial Scrabble Tournament.
  4. Aitchisonians led the way at the Pakistan Spelling Bee Regional Round, advancing to the National Stage, and 23 teams shone at the Pakistan Urdu Spelling Bee 2025, impressing judges with their linguistic skills.
  5. In innovation, Prep School boys achieved 2nd place at the World Robot Olympiad (Future Innovators Category), qualifying for the International Finals in Singapore. The school also claimed the Overall Best Delegation Award at Atelier 6.0.
  6. Excellence persisted in the ICATS Science International Competence and Aptitude Testing Service, while in the 21st International Kangaroo Linguistics Competition, Aitchisonians earned 32 gold and 10 silver medals.
  7. The year concluded with a major victory at the Faith SCIL Olympiad, where Aitchison College Prep School was named the Overall Best Junior Delegation among 700 participants, marking a fitting end to an exceptional year of success and distinction.

Meteorology in Motion: Prep School Students Learned to Predict the Weather

Aitchison College, Prep School Science Department, organised a field trip to the Meteorological Department, Lahore, for our E2 students. During the visit,  students gained firsthand exposure to how precisely weather data is established, maintained, and verified in laboratories using advanced scientific instruments and techniques. Our students also observed various processes related to data collection, weather forecasting, and quality assurance. Boys showed keen curiosity as they interacted with meteorologists and observed real-time demonstrations. They learnt how to use the various tools and techniques to study and accurately predict the weather. They observed how various instruments record data of temperature, air pressure, humidity, wind speed, and cloud movements, and learned how this data is beneficial for daily life applications.

The trip fostered teamwork, discipline, and observational skills as students actively participated in discussions and note-taking. Experiencing science in action strengthened their motivation to pursue hands-on learning and develop a stronger connection between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

ArtFest 2025 - A Celebration of Creativity Beyond Boundaries

“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.” - Thomas Merton

ArtFest 2025 unfolded over two unforgettable days of creativity, collaboration, and pure artistic energy. Hundreds of delegates from schools and colleges across Lahore, Wazirabad, and Karachi, joined by international participants through online delegations, transformed the festival into a true celebration of art beyond boundaries.

Throughout the event, a symphony of expression took a definitive form. Categories ranging from Visual Arts and Media Arts to Art Discourse and Music ran simultaneously, each carrying its own mood, intensity, and community. The atmosphere was alive with students sketching under shaded courtyards and cameras capturing fleeting moments. A series of performances and creative workshops punctuated the schedule, giving delegates a chance to engage, experiment, and connect.

The Opening Ceremony set the tone with remarkable performances by the Aitchison College Art and Music Society, filling the hall with excitement. The festival grounds themselves were beautifully designed and curated, with every corner radiating colour, conversation, and creative energy. The space felt less like a school and more like a living gallery.

The two-day celebration concluded with a dazzling Music Night at the Closing Ceremony, featuring renowned names like Farhan Saeed and Omar Mukhtar. Delegates also took to the stage, performing their renditions of vocals and instrumentals — a moment of joy and unity that captured the essence of what ArtFest has long stood for.

ArtFest 2025 was more than a festival; it was an experience. A reminder that art, in all its forms, has the power to connect, move, and define us. It left behind not just memories, but an enduring sense of inspiration.

An Exchange on Academia, AI and Teaching with University of South Asia

Led by our Old Boy (1976) Imran Masood (Vice Chancellor USA), a delegation from the University of South Asia comprising senior faculty members visited Aitchison College on October 1st, 2025. The discussion was spearheaded by Dr Turab Hussain (Principal), with Faaria Salahuddin (Director Advancements), Tina Hameed (Director Teaching and Learning Centre) and Omer Mubbasher (Training Manager TLC) providing key insights into areas of academic interest, such as the impact of AI on education and the necessity of fostering individual creative expression in students.

Additionally, the emphasis was on the vision of the recently established Teaching & Learning Centre (TLC) and their work in Aitchison, particularly the institution of Professional Development Policy & Career Trajectories and the significance of Continuous Professional Development in ensuring teachers are equipped with up-to-date techniques and knowledge. Various interventions have been offered by TLC like Professional Reading Circles (PRC), Observe 2 Grow (O2G) etc. which serve as a model to be emulated for other faculty development programs in schools and universities alike. Channeling the spirit of collaboration, TLC offered to run training sessions for the faculty of USA to help them engage with Professional Literature.

The discussion was followed by an immersion in the history of the College via the Archive Display Centre and a guided tour of the campus, offering the delegation an overview of Aitchison’s academic environment, facilities, and traditions.

Inspiring Minds: Tech Talk with Dr. Rabia

Aitchison College, Prep School Computer Department hosted an engaging session during the Clubs and Societies period on Friday, October 3rd, 2025, featuring Dr. Rabia, former Assistant Professor at Lahore Garrison University, as the guest speaker. Interacting with students from the Robotics and Programming Club, Dr. Rabia delivered an insightful talk on Artificial Intelligence, Microcontrollers, and Cloud Computing. Her session offered students valuable exposure to cutting-edge technologies, inspiring curiosity and inspiration among young tech enthusiasts.

Excellence of Penmanship: Inter-House English Handwriting Competition

Aitchison College Senior School held its Inter-House English Handwriting Competition on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, in Rooms 216 and 217. The event featured two categories:

  1. Junior Category: Open to all students from C1 and C2
  2. Senior Category: Open to all students from H1 and H2

Participants in both categories were given thirty minutes to copy a selected passage. The competition aimed to promote legible and elegant handwriting and attention to detail.

In the Junior category:

  • The top handwriter is Asmad Bui Ali of Jubilee House.
  • Muhammad Ajlal Khan of Robinson House claimed  the second position.
  • The third position was won by  Syed Abdullah Mahmood of Balochistan House.

In the Senior category:

  •  The winner is  Muhammad Abdul Moiz of Kelly House.
  • The second position goes to  Muhammad Hashim Rizwan of Babur House.
  • The third position is held by Muhammad Ayaan Ejaz of Centenary House.

Junior School Boys Discover Joy of Reading During Library Visit

The SBA Library welcomed approximately thirty Junior School boys for an engaging visit filled with curiosity and creativity. The students explored the library, discovered their favourite books, and watched ‘Nápo’, a heartwarming short film about family, memory, and imagination - values we hope will resonate with our young learners forever. To end the visit on a sweet note, each student received a chocolate-wrapped scroll with a colouring sheet, a small keepsake to remember their time at the library and inspire creative expression

School Assembly of the Senior School

The Senior School held its  School Assembly on October 15, 2025, to recognise the outstanding achievements of its students in various competitions and events. Among those acknowledged were participants and winners of the Inter-House Aeronautical Competition, Gear Up, Cryptography, German Essay Writing, Spelling Bee, the Open House Chess Rankings, and many more. The winning students were invited on stage to receive recognition and were heartily congratulated by the esteemed Headmistress of the Senior School, Ms. Amina Kamran. The assembly concluded with appreciative remarks from the Headmistress of the Senior School, who praised the students for their remarkable performances and valuable contributions to the school’s academic and co-curricular excellence.
