When the first representative Jafar XI runs out today at 4.30pm to face the Pakistan U 23 team at Aitchison, it will signify an even greater purpose in the regeneration of hockey across Pakistan. Equally important, the Jafar XI comprises the best players from schools who participated in the most recent Jafar tournament. Seeing boys from different schools training and playing together and coaches from the two finalist teams sharing duties achieves what sport does best. It brings people together. We are proud that four Aitchison boys made the Jafar XI, but also satisfied that Syed Mohammed Jafar's peerless name continues to be associated with the best spirit and intentions of hockey.
Good luck to all.
